Autoimmune Disorders

A group of disorders where the body turns its own defenses against itself which results in damage of otherwise healthy tissue. Symptoms can vary greatly in nature and severity depending on the disorder. Some examples of autoimmune disorders include rheumatoid arthritis where immune cells attack joint tissue, Type 1 diabetes, where the body attacks pancreatic cells that create insulin and systemic lupus erythematosus, also known simply as lupus, which is characterized by immune system attack of various healthy tissues within the body.

Cannabis has been shown to regulate proteins and immune cells to reduce the symptoms of autoimmune disorders. CBD also acts as analgesic in cases of inflammation.
