Inflammation

A process within the body that normally occurs as a defense mechanism against infection. Inflammation is characterized by heat, redness, swelling, and sometimes pain. In some cases, the body’s inflammation mediators may call for a defensive process without a harmful entity presence.  For instance, individuals with allergies experience a reaction that is mediated by histamine to a substance that is not directly harmful. In other cases, the body may turn its defenses against its own healthy, normal cells. At this point, the inflammation is characterized as part of an autoimmune disorder. A popular example of an inflammatory, auto-immune disorder is rheumatoid arthritis, where the body attacks otherwise healthy joint tissue.

Cannabis has natural anti-inflammatory properties that can reduce unwanted inflammation and alleviate pain.
