Phantom Limb Pain

A condition where a patient experiences the sensation of pain in a nonexistent organ or limb. Phantom limb syndrome is often seen in amputees who still feel like they physically have the missing limb. While some phantom limbs are simply strange for patients, others can cause severe pain. Phantom limb pain can present as a painful sensation, but can also be a feeling of heat, cold or cramping of the amputated region.

Cannabinoids bind CB1 and CB2 to modulate the body’s natural pain feedback mechanism.
